Banner Health / Banner Children’s Specialists (BCS) is seeking a  Pediatric Hospitalist  to join a well-established program in the Phoenix metro area.

The ideal candidate will be board certified/board eligible, possess strong clinical team building and interpersonal relationship skills along with proven training and experience as a Pediatric Hospitalist. The physician hired will be based at Banner Thunderbird Children’s Hospital in Glendale, AZ. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in a collaborative work environment within an integrated healthcare system.

Details and Requirements:

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible – Pediatrics
  • Patients will include newborns  and pediatrics
  • 12-15  patients/day
  • Newborn nursery coverage if desired, no delivery attendance
  • The team consists of  13 core  physicians
  • Primary Location: Banner Thunderbird Children’s Hospital
  • Additional hospital privileges at Banner Gateway Medical Center and Banner Children’s at Desert Medical Center

Banner Children's Specialists provide comprehensive pediatric care from general to emergency, as well as services for specific childhood diseases. Highly trained physician specialists, social services staff and numerous integrative therapy programs ensure a complete range of care for children. We have a child-friendly atmosphere accented by soothing colors and dedicated play areas, as well as a volunteer dog therapy program that helps cheer up young patients during their stays.  We are located on two medical campuses:

Banner Thunderbird Medical Center is the fourth largest hospital in the Phoenix metropolitan area with 513 licensed beds. No one in the West Valley provides the level of care to kids that Banner Thunderbird does.  Within the hospital is the highly regarded Banner Thunderbird Children’s Center, a dedicated area for pediatrics that includes 40 pediatric inpatient beds and the West Valley’s only pediatric intensive care unit capable of caring for the most critically ill or injured children.  In addition, Banner Thunderbird has a separate emergency department for children.

Healing Environment:  Banner Thunderbird realizes that many factors contribute to patients’ healing and our hospital reflects that with natural light, soothing paint colors, relaxing artwork and private rooms, when available. A recently completed $290 million expansion project added a spacious and comfortable main lobby, a patient/family library, a heart and vascular center, state-of-the-art surgical suites and a 200-bed patient tower to the campus. The new tower includes a new Emergency department and all-private rooms featuring large windows, comfortable seating/sleeping areas for loved ones, wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, nurse stations outside every room, and 32-inch flat panel televisions.

BTMC is located in Glendale, AZ, a dynamic city located in the rapidly growing northwest section of the Phoenix metropolitan area and is known for its excellent educational and medical institutions, beautiful neighborhoods and a diversified economic base. Glendale is also home to the NHL Phoenix Coyotes and home of the NFL Arizona Cardinals, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the 2008 Super Bowl.

Growth in Glendale is supported by five highly regarded elementary and secondary school districts whose academic test results compare favorably with other schools in the state. In addition, Glendale's own Campus Connection includes four institutions of higher learning: Midwestern University (Osteopathic medicine and pharmacy), the internationally recognized Thunderbird-Garvin School of International Management, Glendale Community College and Arizona State University - West.

Our pediatric specialists at BTMC work closely with those at Cardon Children's Medical Center.  This highly regarded hospital features 248 beds, specially trained nurses and doctors and family-centered care as well as an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and dedicated units including Radiology, Cancer, and Emergency services

Banner Children's at Desert Medical Center is located in Mesa , AZ, just 15 miles from Phoenix and home to more than 430,000 people. The city has numerous historic areas including the Temple District. This area of town surrounds the Later Day Saints(LDS or Mormon) Temple, which was built in 1927. The temple and its visitor's center attract more than two million visitors each year.

Other area attractions include the many museums and art galleries, year-round golfing, and historic Hohokam Indian sites. Spend an evening with the Mesa Symphony Orchestra or attending a play performed by the Southwest Shakespeare Company. If you like baseball, Mesa is the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs.

Nearby Arizona areas offer mega shopping malls, numerous factory outlets, wonderful restaurants of every sort, dozens of top-rated golf courses, Indian gaming centers, medical services, and many more attractions including Biosphere II, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, the Arizona Science Center, Kartchner Caverns, Saguaro and Canyon Lakes and of course, the beautiful Grand Canyon.
