We are hiring both general neurology and neurology subspecialists. Our diverse, experienced team creates an excellent environment for experienced physicians, as well as those just getting started, post-fellowship. We offer support, mentorship, skilled leadership, and very competitive compensation.

General Job Details:  

  • Department is comprised of:
    • 16 neurologists
    • 14 neuroscientists
    • 3 Nurse Practitioners 
  • Responsibilities are: 
    • ~90% Clinical
    • ~10% Teaching/Education/Administration
    • More flexible options are available for those with preferences for more teaching or research 
  • Call Schedule: 1 month per year 
    • 2 weeks on, 2x/year 
    • Residents take 1st call 
    • No Stroke, ICU call 
    • No overnight unless emergency 
    • Backup available with all subspecialties 
  • Practice Schedule: M-F 40 hours/week 
    • Inpatient Only: ~10-12 Patients/day 
    • Outpatient Only: ~14-16 Patients/day 
      • 2-3 Exam Rooms 
      • Strong nursing Support
  • Teaching Responsibilities: 
    • Present 1-2x/year in Grand Rounds 
    • Our faculty will always have learners but faculty can dictate how many are present in the clinic 
    • Option to oversee resident clinic and review encounters to build productivity towards incentive pay 
  • All ranks available – commensurate with experience  
  • Primarily Non-tenure track
    • Funded researchers can be considered for tenure-track

As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department's facilities include:  

  • A dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with 6 bed EMU  
  • 14-bed Neurosciences ICU  
  • AANEM Lab Accreditation with Exemplary Status  
  • Level IV Epilepsy program  
  • Level 1 Acute Stroke Center  
  • MDA/ALS clinics  
  • An accredited Sleep Program  
  • First Adult Certified Duchenne Care Center by PPMD.  

Our academic programs include a neurology residency program and the following six accredited neurology fellowship programs:

    • Clinical Neurophysiology
    • Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology
    • Sleep Medicine
    • Advanced Sleep Medicine
    • Vascular Neurology
  • UCNS-Accredited Fellowship Program
    • Neuro Critical Care   

In addition to clinical opportunities, the MU Center for Translational Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory offers a vast array of academic and research opportunities. Currently, there are established basic and translational research programs with 30+ clinical trials in Neurology.   

Qualifications: 

  • MD/DO 
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in neurology.  
  • Successful completion of an accredited fellowship in the respective areas of expertise.
  • For the purposes of this application, BC/BE candidates from ACGME accredited residencies and fellowships are considered experienced.

  • EMG/Nerve Studies 
  • Sleep Studies 
  • Botox

About MU Neurology:

MU Department of Neurology offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in areas such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, clinical neurophysiology, neuromuscular diseases, interventional and acute, chronic cerebrovascular disease, movement disorders, behavioral neurology, neurological intensive critical care, headache, and multiple sclerosis. In addition, we have expertise in various subspecialty areas, including pediatric neurology, neuro-ophthalmology, neuropathology, neuro-rehab, and pain medicine.

As the largest Neurologic Care Team in mid-Missouri, the department's facilities include a dedicated 28-bed Neurosciences Center with 6 bed EMU; 14-bed Neurosciences ICU, Level IV Epilepsy program, Level 1 Acute Stroke Center, MDA/ALS clinics, and an accredited Sleep Program.

We offer opportunities to assist in the department's growth, the education of students, residents, and fellows across six neurology fellowship programs, including Clinical Neurophysiology, Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology, Neuro Critical Care, Sleep Medicine, Advanced Sleep Medicine, and Vascular Neurology, as well as research and scholarly activities. 


In addition to clinical opportunities, the MU Center for Translational Neuroscience,  Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, and NextGen Precision Health offer a vast array of academic and research opportunities.
